My natural hair is thick (I have a lot of it) but it's fine. I have colored my hair since I was a young teen but my natural is a light brown and the texture is STRAIGHT.
This routine has been tried and proven through the whole IVF process and pregnancy. I will let you know about post partum.
I am a huge extension connoisseur and have literally tried them all. My hair functions best with clip ins and I highly recommend Cashmere Hair for the hair quality and color matching. They also give a discount to salon pros, so have your stylist order them for you! My stylist will order them and then she helps me color to match my hair if needed.
I only wash my hair once or twice/week. Mostly, I am lazy, but the wash and style routine can be time consuming.
Fresh Wash Style: Shampoo, Condition, Wrap Up and Dry with Microfiber Towel (never a body towel), Leave-In Conditioner. Once ready to style, add Volumizing Mousse, Heat Protectant & Hair Oil. If I am curling, I first use Texturizing Spray and then finish off with Hair Spray.
No Wash Style: This is most days. If my morning work out has left my hair too damp to style, I will blow dry quick. Then, prior to styling, I add my hair oil to protect my hair and style away. Since I am always using extensions somehow, I don't normally worry too much about my hair except for the top that's visible.
Shampoo & Conditioners
Build that bond, honey! I used Olaplex for a long time but have recently switched over to Redken Bonding and definitely recommend.
I also condition once/week with TikTok's favorite Glimmr Hair Mask. Wish Glimmr would give me referral code (hint, hint).
Protectants
Some of my favorites are KERASTASE Blond Absolu Cicaplasme Heat Protecting Serum, Moroccanoil Treatment LIGHT, and Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil
Sometimes I use different types of oil multiple times/day. I also like to apply a dry conditioner before I go to bed, my favorite is the IGK because its bond building.
Make sure to use a microfiber towel and silk pillowcases too. I like the options below because of the quality; I will typically splurge when it comes to bathing and sleeping.
Styling
I use a mousse prior to drying hair. Then, prior to styling, I use texturizing spray and finish off with hair spray.
Tools
I probably have 20+ tools available at any given time. Tools are always my weakness and I have undoubtedly spent too many millions on them over the span of my lifetime. I am listing my favorites or tools that I use at least weekly but ask if you want a review on something specific because I have probably used it.
Hair Drying
I start off with the Dyson and get my hair 75% dry. Then, I will use the double shot or single shot for volume at the top of the scalp. Yes, I have both and mostly use the single shot for traveling.
Styling
Any time I am styling my hair, I typically use a curling iron. When I am wearing straight, I will curl a few pieces with a thick curling iron (BaBylissPRO 1.25 or more) and then brush out to give it a bit of a wave.
If I am wearing curled, I curl my whole head with a smaller curling iron. I love the Bio Ionic Long Barrel for longer hair and extensions and I also use the Kristin Ess on the top part of my hair.
Either after or before hair spray, don't forget to brush out your hair! I normally use a comb to brush and sometimes I will tease my hair if I am putting it up.
Last but not least, take your vitamins friends! It is true you have to start from the inside out. I used Nutrafol prior to pregnancy for years and it worked well. During pregnancy, I found a similar vitamin on Amazon that's much cheaper but I have never tried it and don't know anyone who has to confirm. I have also heard raving reviews about all things Mary Ruth's.
