WORK IN PROGRESS! STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES
Agenda: Rome - Florence - Venice
Month: October
Travel Methods: Air - Trains - Boats
Total Trip Length: 9 Days (including travel)
Air: American Airlines direct DFW to Rome (9 hours total)
Travel Attire: Something comfortable and loose!
All of these options come in multiple colors
I wore tennis shoes on the plane to save room in my luggage and definitely regretted it so wear sandals/slides instead
For packing, I recommend getting soft/collapsible shoes for more room but you do have to bring sneakers
Pro Tip: If you don't like dirt to show on your shoes, make sure to get dark colors because your shoes are going to be DIRTY
Luggage: I had a XL suitcase & backpack. Patrick packed a carry on and backpack. Depending on your activities & locations, you can usually check bags somewhere so you don't have to haul them around. If you can, you may want to pack on the heavier side
TUMI backpack is a must have; I take it everywhere and it's worth the splurge
Patrick's Backpack
Packing: My recommendation for my fellow fashionistas is to pack basics and go straight to Zara/H&M/Mango when you arrive. European style is so different than ours and I LOVE Zara in Europe. We had to buy a Venetian leather bag while in Venice to bring back all of my new clothes
Electric Things: We bought a travel adapter & converter. I recommend getting one per person. If one person is using it, the other really cannot
PRO TIP: Get hair styling tools with a European plug - I could not use any of mine except for a curling iron and nothing else could be plugged in with it. You can also plan to hit il negozio (store) on your way back from Zara
Weather: Mid 70s/Low 80s (it was hot!)
Duration of Stay: 2.5 Days
Day 1
Arrived in Rome around 8 AM on Thursday morning and hit the ground running (yes, I had no sleep)
- Take a cab from the airport to AirBnB, get ready for a 45 minute TIGHT ride
- Stay in Campo de' Fiori - find our exact AirBnB here
Mid-morning snack/lunch: Bar Rossanna Sas Di Macci
We were starving and ready for a drink once we got to the area. We quickly found an espresso shop where we were able to get a cup and refresh/change in the bathroom. We then moved on to our first pizza of the trip at Elle Effe resturant
Next up was our PRIVATE tour of the coliseum with our wonderful guide Patrizia. We met her at Ristoro della Salute where we enjoyed a refreshing glass of vino della casa
Pro Tip: Always opt for the private tour if you can, it's so much more enjoyable to be able to go at your own pace and enjoy your travel buddies
Nighttime was a blast
- Start at Oro Bistrot for rooftop cocktails
- Go to Enoteca Corsi for dinner and order pasta
